Electoral Reforms

People's Action initiated the movement for awareness for the need for electoral reforms closely following the work of ADR in securing the disclosure of assets for elected representatives through a writ.

A seminar organised by People's Action on the issue which involved all NGOs of Delhi at the Habitat Centre attended by Admiral Tahiliani, K.Sivaramakrishna and Jaiprakash Narayan along with Maja Daruwala became a starting point and then a series of actions, many in collaboration with other NGOs culminated in the formation of the Delhi Election Watch.

People's Action organised the first ever Meet Your Candidate programme in the Saket constituency and petitioned people of Delhi through a street campaign to come out and vote. Sanjay Kaul coined the potent and popular slogan - "If You Don't Vote, You Don't Count"
